About the Position: Serves as the Public Affairs Officer for the Public Health Command-Pacific (PHC-P) with responsibilities for planning and coordinating the dissemination of information relating to PHC-P and its subordinate organizations' objectives by analyzing and executing the best method to convey the PHC-P Commander's vision and intent. This position is with the Medical Readiness Command Pacific located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii.

Duties

Identify communication needs, concerns, and attitudes of various publics as they relate to programs, policies and activities of the community and its higher headquarters. Execute effective public information programs to ensure the timely and accurate release of information and response to media inquiries and information for community relations. Operate as the primary liaison between the agency and news media by fulfilling the role of the official spokesperson to inform and educate external audiences about the organization's mission, programs and accomplishments. Advise on choice, timing and relative importance of information for dissemination to the Public Health Command-Pacific (PHC-P), its subordinate organizations, and the general public using knowledge of general and specialized media.

Requirements

• This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance of access for the duration of employment which includes a background investigation and credit check.
• This position is identified as Mission Essential which may require you to work or remain at work during an emergency situation or when inclement weather has curtailed operations (e.g., threat to the facility, natural disaster, delayed reporting).
• This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 25% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
• This position has been designated as “Key” and will not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
• You must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
