About the Position: Serve as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Medical Readiness Command and subordinate activities in the U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) responsible for the dissemination of information relating to the MRC and subordinate activities through news media, i.e. news releases, fact sheets, newsletters, and broadcast spots that increase communication with various publics. This position is with the Medical Readiness Command Pacific located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii.

Duties

Serve as the Public Affairs Specialist for the Medical Readiness Command Pacific responsible for the dissemination of information through the news media. Inform and educate various targeted publics about the mission, programs, and activities of the region. Serve as the official spokesperson for the region when dealing with the media or other audiences. Answer queries from the media of a sensitive nature. Execute effective public information programs to ensure the timely and accurate release of information and response to media inquiries. Ensure appropriate information is received, developed, and distributed to various media representatives and outlets. Develop innovative approaches in communicating agency programs and releasing information.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 20 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
