About the Position: This position is with the Medical Readiness Command Pacific located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii.

Duties

Serve as the Public Affairs Specialist for the Medical Readiness Command Pacific responsible for the dissemination of information through the news media. Inform and educate various targeted publics about the mission, programs, and activities of the region. Serve as the official spokesperson for the region when dealing with the media or other audiences. Answer queries from the media of a sensitive nature. Execute effective public information programs to ensure the timely and accurate release of information and response to media inquiries. Ensure appropriate information is received, developed, and distributed to various media representatives and outlets. Develop innovative approaches in communicating agency programs and releasing information.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 20 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communication CounselCommunications and MediaPublic Affairs Policies and Procedures Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
