Duties

As a an Immigration Policy Analyst, your duties will include: Exercises signature authority for visa related petitions and applications, assuming responsibility for the immigration and visa services provided to individuals in all visiting foreign scientist. Serves as NIH Training Program Liaison (TPL) for the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Manages the G-7 J-1 Visa extension process for NIH in coordination with DOS. Provides expert advice on specific cases and processing issues to the NIH Office of Intramural Research (OIR). Responsible for oversight of the 212e, two-year home residence requirement waiver program, which includes processing of "No Objection" and Interested Government Agency waiver applications. Maintains and updates H-1B inspection file requirements, including DOL and public access files. Drafts and updates internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) to facilitate processing work. Analyzes Federal regulations and policies pertaining to foreign scientists to make recommendations to Director.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.

Qualifications

For the GS-13 level: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: advising the supervisor on training needs for the team; ability to read and interpret applicable immigration laws and regulations to advise program participants, including IC staff; analyzing data from a variety of sources to develop trends, patterns, and studies; gathering, reviewing, and consolidating information into statistical data; preparing and delivering preliminary and final reports through various mediums (e.g. written, verbal, presentation).
