Duties

Serves as a Shift Supervisor for the Law Enforcement force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at the installation. Responsible for responses to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service. Exercises search and apprehension authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, and determines whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action. Performs required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency as the first responder to an incident until medical emergency personnel arrive. Conducts and/or participates in civilian training regarding various law enforcement topics conducted on an Army installation. Conducts traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. Performs protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts. Serve as a shift supervisor of police officers and security officers in the Law Enforcement Division conducting law enforcement and security/access control operations. Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • You may be expected to travel a 25% of the time for this position.
  • This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
  • Selectee’s inability to successfully pass or refusal to conduct the drug test may result in the job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process or subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
  • You may be required to sign a Statement of Understanding if you are selected for this position.
  • Must be pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement as prescribed by regulations or statutes. To include but not limited to weapons, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony in accordance with Section 639 of P.L. 106-554 effective January 20, 2001.
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
  • Must meet successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
  • Must pass a Physical Agility Test within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program.
  • Incumbent must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has been grandfathered or has an approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
