This position is located at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC), in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The position reports directly to a Service Chief in the Nursing Department and directly supports all aspects of the Service Chief in the Nursing Department. Duties

If you are selected for this position your responsibilities will include: - Serves as a representative for the office on all matters related to the implementation of policy, plans, and programs. Directs and implements administrative functions for the office, keeps the supervisor fully informed of current conditions throughout the service, and takes appropriate action to ensure that administrative activities are properly implemented to support its mission. - Tracking activities, deadlines, records, responses to data calls, and/or other matters with attention to detail, analyzing the information tracked, preparing summaries and written analysis of the information for supervisors or colleagues, orally communicating the analysis and following up to ensure that deadlines for matters are being met. - Establishes and implements standards for the efficient operation of the office. Coordinates subordinate staff and colleagues in the department, ensuring that the administrative and clerical functions required for a smooth and efficient operation are provided. Reviews work, accepting, amending, or rejecting work as appropriate on behalf of the supervisor. Exercises responsibility for internal document control management.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • If selected, you must pass a pre-employment medical examination.
  • This position is designated Tier II.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for a Staff Assistant, GS-0301 position at the GS-11 level, you must have: A. completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related; OR B. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: analyzing administrative problems, developing recommendations, and synthesizing the data into reports or briefings; implementing administrative functions for an office; and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders on administrative matters of interest. OR C. A combination of post baccalaureate education related to the position and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
