This position is located in the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), National Institutes of Health (NIH). Duties

Plan, organize, analyze, evaluate, and implement a program analysis effort, which supports the scientific research and administrative activities of EDI and NIH. Oversee and coordinate the planning and implementation of a course of action among staff in various functions of the organization, both within EDI and in collaboration with other offices and programs at the NIH. Assist the Immediate Office of the Director, EDI, in the overall management of the office, provides broad oversight, advises leadership on a range of topics including programmatic, policy, and operational functions of the office, contributes to shaping the direction of the office, and coordinates the planning and implementation of major projects for the office. Develop and implement new trans-NIH interdisciplinary program initiatives that combine knowledge and approaches from behavioral, and social science disciplines to gain a better understanding of the complex, multifaceted interactions that determine health and well-being. Coordinate and lead meetings with NIH Institutes and Centers (IC) representatives to develop behavioral and social science research program guidelines and requirements; planning and conducting social scientific workshops and conferences with behavioral and social science researchers; and scheduling meeting to summarize and discuss research findings. Coordinate special studies relative to questions about the nature, magnitude, growth, and strategies for development of the EDI programs. Serve as an advisor and resource providing technical guidance and assistance on scientific and administrative program planning and evaluation activities. Isolate, define, and develop ways to resolve problems, which directly affects the accomplishment of the program goals and objectives.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: Basic Requirements: A. Completion of a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in the behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university; OR B. Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field; OR C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Additional Qualifications: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: reviewing the work of other staff for technical accuracy; providing coaching or training to staff on analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of behavioral and social science programs, policies and processes; advising on the planning and implementation of social science and/or behavioral studies; developing new methods to ensure optimum research results with respect to data collection functions; and responding to issues and concerns about specific applications/proposals in social science research area.
