About the Position: Fort Cavazos rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. Duties

Advise supervisor on traffic management issues impacting readiness and traffic movement of the installation. Conduct civilian training regarding various law enforcement topics conducted on an Army installation. Analyze facts to identify suspects and/or further develop traffic collision investigations. Conduct long and/or short-term investigations when solutions cannot be achieved during the course of a normal patrol shift. Take charge of accident scenes and/or conducts investigations directing the initial response of uniformed patrols initially on the scene. Review reports of investigative findings to ensure the format, charges, and citations presented are appropriate for the type of incident involved for both civilian and/or military operators.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent must able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
  • The incumbent must have successfully graduated from a DOD, Federal, National or State approved Traffic Management and Collision Investigation (TMCI) course or complete within one year of hire date.
  • The incumbent must meet the requirements of the Army Regulation for Police Officers and Security Guards 190-56 for continued employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must take and pass an initial Physical Agility Test (PAT) and annually thereafter.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must meet all requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
