About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Police/Provost Marshall Division, Patrol Branch. Fort Cavazos rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.

Duties

Responsible for law enforcement desk station commander, law enforcement desk sergeants, law communications and law enforcement administrative functions. Utilize National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and management systems to obtain law enforcement information. Perform duties as a supervisory police officer performing law enforcement duties in an area of exclusive federal jurisdiction. Ensure that subordinate personnel execute their assigned duties. Ensure all areas of responsibility are in compliance with organizational standard operating procedures (SOP's), policies, current law enforcement techniques and skills.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy (USACPA) or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of the Army Regulation for Police Officers and Security Guards 190-56 for continued employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must take and pass an initial Physical Agility Test (PAT) and annually thereafter.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must meet all requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must be able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
  • Incumbent must possess a cellular phone.
