The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an Environmental, Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Safety. Coordinator and Self-Inspection monitor for the Maintenance Division. Serves as the focal point for Division related problems/issues for environmental protection, compliance, pollution prevention and VPP implementation.

Duties

Maintenance DivisionSelf-InspectionProgram:Serves as Davison Self-Inspection Monitor ensuring Division personnel understand Self -Inspection requirements. Environmental Compliance and Voluntary Protection Program: Serves as division's POC to provide advisory services related to environmental directives and issues. ESOHNPP Technician: Performs reviews to assess progress toward meeting established milestones and periodically reports progress to the Division Chief. EMSNPP coordinator: Serves as the division representative on base working groups for Environmental Management System (EMS) and VPP.

  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments
  • Will require a security clearance which authorizes access to areas and information-classified up to and including SECRET. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • May require work during hours other than normal day shift to include evening, nights, weekends or holidays
  • A pre-employment physical examination will be required

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of environmental, occupational, safety, fire, and health principles, methods, and standards; directives, policies, and procedures applicable to industrial arid administrative areas to control or eliminate, hazardous, environmental conditions and mechanical risks to personnel. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of federal, state, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Department of Defense (DOD) directives applicable to the procurement, handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials. 2. Knowledge of basic safety and occupational health principles, practices, and procedures relative to maintenance and repair operations. 3. Skill in identifying and evaluating potential hazardous material spill situations for elimination or remediation. 4. Ability to interpret and apply a wide variety of training materials on safe work practices, environmental compliance, accident prevention and mishap reporting requirements to train and instruct supervisors and employees. 5. Knowledge of maintenance operations, processes, policies, and procedures. 6. Ability to inspect the condition of maintenance facilities, perform property inventories, and initiate facility service and repair work orders. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
