About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Police/Provost Marshal Division, Access Control Branch at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Duties

Perform and resolve a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments. Defuse potential volatile situations by personally explaining denial situations to customers and directing them away from staff. Independently lead and manage the work of the Visitor Control Center in support of the physical security program. Operate and perform research queries on the NCIC National Crime Information Center (NCIC/NCCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with Federal and state laws. Provide authoritative guidance and information on security regulations and procedures while exercising sound judgment and discretion. Provide control of sensitive information by maintaining a variety of files, access control registers, databases, and installation access denial records.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • This position is "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency situations (natural or man-made disaster) you will be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
