The primary purpose of this position is to advance AFLCMC's ability to acquire, develop, support and sustain Products and Services by generating logistics solutions and supporting personnel. This position serves as an Equipment Specialist for an assigned AFLCMC Directorate organization.

Duties

1. Provides MAJCOM functional managers resolutions to complex system problems. Advises technicians on methods of resolving troubleshooting problems, repairing difficult system malfunctions, research and analysis, and resolving equipment problems with long term Air Force wide implications. 2. Recommends tests, equipment modifications, training for users and maintainers, and correction to design deficiencies through evaluation of operational capability of systems/equipment and review of performance data against standards. 3. Assists in troubleshooting and repairing difficult and unusual problems including those which have not been previously resolved. Designs special test equipment, develops special maintenance procedures, develops and conducts technical training for unit maintainers and operators. 4. Acts as Technical Content Manager for assigned technical data. Assists in troubleshooting and repairing difficult and unusual problems.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1670, Equipment Services Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Equipment Services Series 1670 (opm.gov) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in ???????(1) Working as a skilled maintenance worker, service operator, or designer in a technical group dealing with manufacturing, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment. (2) Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements to include engineering data, configuration management, schematic diagrams, operational instructions, illustrated parts breakdown manuals, etc. (3) Analyzing equipment and forecasting maintenance requirements and preventative failure schedules. (4) Reading and interpreting engineering and maintenance change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders. (5) Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR EDUCATION: ???????In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education, as follows: You must have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. OR You must have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of specific systems/equipment that are assigned. 2. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Skill in providing technical advice in terms of oral and written briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and maintenance technicians; and developing interpersonal relationships, maintaining good working relationships, and working cooperatively as a member of a team. 4. Skill in analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and technical data; and, identifying and analyzing complex technical problems and developing innovative solutions. 5. Ability to plan, organize, and re-prioritize work to meet changing deadlines. 6. Ability to develop and conduct training to ensure proper maintenance of assigned systems/equipment; and communication well both orally and in writing. ???????PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
