The Program Support Assistant (PSA) position is in the Primary Care Service Program Support. The position is responsible for a variety of assigned administrative functions using various software programs to complete spreadsheets, reports, professional correspondences and other task to assist with administrative deadlines.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: The incumbent is responsible for collecting, compiling and/or tracking statistical information. Provides a wide variety of clerical and administrative support duties in support of the overall administrative functions of the office. Generate detailed charts, calendars, and reports for use in tracking access, leave, clinic availability, etc. Performs duties associated with grid management. Serves as a secondary timekeeper. Orders office supplies for employees of Primary Care. Performs PCMM clerk duties for Dorn Primary Care clinics. Receives and processes documents and reports in accordance with established procedures. Delivers mail, correspondence, and reports. Develops and monitors resources and makes recommendations to the service regarding needs, distribution, or redistribution of these resources. Provides guidance and assistance with the implementation of administrative activities based upon comprehensive working knowledge of program initiatives and VHA polices and directives. Utilizes and maintains knowledge of multiple computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Prepares correspondence and presentations creates and maintains databases. Maintains electronic calendar and reserves conference areas, submits time and attendance data via VISTA/DHCP, and monitors education and training in TMS. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

o qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/30/2024.Typing Proficiency: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing clerical, technical, or customer support; receiving and referring phone calls; communicating and treating customers in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner while providing consistent information according to established policies and procedures; and using computer programs to prepare documents. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above high school in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 60 semester hours. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work area is usually an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated office of medical facility setting. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The work is sedentary but may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items like papers or books. The work requires light to moderate levels/times performing keyboarding to prepare correspondence. Education

There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
