You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.

Duties

You will serve as an assistant to the Security Manager and are responsible for the administrative support for the Industrial and Personnel Security Programs for the NAVSUP WSS Enterprise. You will screen and submit trustworthiness investigations for all government, employees, military, and contractors. You will review contract proposals to ensure that the appropriate security clauses are incorporated to protect classified and controlled information. You will manage and protects classified information, documents and material.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

FOR GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying a thorough knowledge of provisions as they relate to Personnel, Information, Industrial Security to ensure personnel, information, and industrial security compliance. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following; 1) Processes the granting or denying access to classified material in accordance with regulations including interviewing employees and/or applicants concerning allegations of a derogatory nature or requesting additional investigations of developing other information; 2) Ensures that determinations are made on the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry in sensitive and non-sensitive positions; 3) Advises management personnel on every phase of the information, personnel, industrial and physical security program for the command; 4) Managing, implements and directs the commands physical security and loss prevention program which includes developing and maintain comprehensive physical security instructions; 5) Assess and evaluates security measures in areas designated for storage of classified matter, materials of highly pilfer able or hazardous nature and those areas vulnerable to threat and sabotage; 6) Advises and directs in matters regarding the eligibility of personnel to access classified information and is assigned to sensitive duties. FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: possessing the ability to accurately interpret new or existing security instructions and review/ implement and/or rewrite procedures pertaining to the work of the security department. 1) Drafting security instructions as they relate to Personnel, Information and Industrial Security to ensure security compliance; 2) Assist with resolving problems using security concepts, principles and practices; 3) Recommend protective methods and security procedures using security equipment, devices and databases; 4) Coordinating reports for potential security compromises of classified information. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

FOR GS-11:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related

FOR GS-09:
master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related
