About the Position: This position is located within U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Public Affairs Office (PAO) at Fort Belvoir, VA. This position can be filled at either the GS-11 or GS-12 grade level.

Duties

Serves as a focal point for all communication for the Director of Public Affairs of Fort Belvoir. Coordinate protocol guidance and support for internal and external community and installation-wide events. Orchestrate a series of community and civic events to showcase the Directorate of Fort Belvoir. Administer multiple content for social media platforms. Convey information about the organization’s operation, programs, and activities through social media networking. Advise Leaders on Military Protocol and Etiquette of public meetings and events.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position has been designated mission essential. The term mission essential means those employees who perform vital duties are required to be at work regardless of emergency situation or any general dismissal authorization.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. For the GS-11 Grade Level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Maintain rapport with internal and external customers. 2. Organize Fort Belvoir Garrison Command installation wide events. 3. Manage media representatives' conversations to minimize the required social material related to Fort Belvoir. 4. Provide protocol guidance and support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. For the GS-12 Grade Level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Monitor social media networking on Fort Belvoir programs. 2. Act as a protocol point of contact for command at social functions and meetings. 3. Coordinate internal and external protocol programs and events. 4. Create a wide range of Fort Belvoir community relations activities informational productions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and MediaOral CommunicationOrganizational AwarenessWritten Communication

Education
