About the Position: This position is located with the 407th LRC, Maintenance Division, Ground Maintenance BR-Production Control section. Ft Hood is nicknamed The Great Place because of the quality of life the post and area offer Soldiers and their families.

Duties

Serve as Quality Assurance Specialist responsible for maintenance in the development, coordination, and implementation of the Maintenance Operations' Quality Assurance Program. Utilize and implement a variety of quality assurance techniques and procedures pursuant to compliance with the International Standards Organization (ISO 9001) standard for quality systems. Develop a quality assurance manual with detailed procedures for the activities of a major industrial facility engaged in diversified repair activities on military hardware. Advise functional managers on implementation of quality systems and facilitate work groups in development of documented procedures. Investigate complaints and deficiency reports, initiate action to determine cause, and recommend resolution. Assure that quality plans include appropriate and measurable performance standards and that technical requirements are complete and accurately stated.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • Certifications are required and maintained Emergency Vehicle Technician Level III EVT certification within 36 months.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience assisting with monitoring repairs made to tactical, combat, and special purpose equipment and providing technical assistance to repairmen by researching repair data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09) OR, Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position. (Please Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts) OR, Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Please Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
