About the Position: You will serve as a Maintenance Worker (Maintenance Vehicle/Forklift Operator) assigned to the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS) at Dona Ana Range Camp, Dona Ana New Mexico.

Duties

Repair existing buildings used by training units, range operations personnel or range operations support personnel. Construct, install, repair or modify items. Build target and weapons stands for the range. Build wooden structures for obstacle courses. Drives truck with gross combined vehicle weight up to 9,600 pounds. Perform equipment operation in accordance with established methods and procedures. Perform a variety of minor electrical repair and maintenance work to project buildings and facilities. Perform manual labor and grounds maintenance duties.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification/license.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a driver's license in one of the 50 US states or possessions and any installation and/or DoD requirement.
  • This position requires heavy lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • This position requires passing a pre-employment physical.

Perform a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings and related structures, fixtures and utilities. Operate a variety of tools and equipment associated with the trades above such as equipment with chains and boomers to safely prepare for hauling. Considerable arm movement in painting, carpentry and tractor equipment operating work. Work inside and outside exposed to all weather conditions. Exposed to dust, dirt, grease, oils, and noisy conditions. Inside work is usually performed on concrete floors. Area is frequently inadequately heated and cooled. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including evenings, holidays, and weekends. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions and its use is mandatory.
