You will serve as a NUCLEAR REGIONAL MAINTENANCE MANAGER in the Nuclear Production Code 300N of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will plan, manage, execute, and complete nuclear work assigned to Nuclear Regional Maintenance to meet established standards of safety and quality within scheduled deadlines. You will be required to work in teams, and you will motivate, teach, enable, and empower team personnel to establish continuous learning and improving environment in the organization. You will periodically review the teams’ service and products with their internal and external customers to maintain focus on providing value and ensure that sub-optimization is minimized. You will supervise the Controlled Industrial Facility and the processing of radioactive waste and manage the Shipyards and IMF mixed waste program for the operating fleet. You will assess the progress status of Nuclear Regional Maintenance work through meetings, review of reports and schedules, and through personal observation.   • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This a temporary position that will not exceed one year.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: overseeing the implementation of nuclear maintenance shipboard projects to meet established safety and quality standards within scheduled time and cost estimate for the program efficiency and effectiveness. Examples of qualifying experience include supervises production efforts for the overhaul, repair and/or testing of nuclear shipboard work; manages mixed waste program including processing of high-level radioactive waste.
