About the Position: Serve as the Deputy Director of Aviation Operations for two instrumental airfields, flight simulation, and airspace management assisting in the planning, coordination, and supervision of Directorate matters.

Duties

Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production. Manage directorate position management functions such as promotions, reassignments, and/or disciplinary actions in the absence of the Director. Review decision papers written for the Director or Command Group to ensure clarity, brevity, and adherence to directorate policies. Assign work through subordinate managers and supervisors in order to meet organizational requirements and goals. Collaborate with Civilian Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC) representatives on matters related to position management, recruitment actions, and/or grievances. Prepare performance standards and/or appraisals for assigned subordinate employees. Review position job descriptions used in position surveys to ensure directorate is adequately staffed and scope of work is accomplished. Assure employee training requirements are met to ensure a balanced and effective workforce. Oversee functions of subordinate operations ensuring accountability of government property. Implement corrective actions on long range work plans based on received inspection reports and/or special studies from higher headquarters. Oversee regular and statistical, financial, and/or productivity analyses related to the use of directorate resources. Initiate special studies used to determine directorate workload, personnel utilization, and/or organizational operating requirements. Determine short- and long-range plans for directorate programs. Develop recommendations regarding mission changes, organizational structure, and/or regulations that impact directorate accomplishments and goals. Develop implementation plans for new or changed laws, policies, and/or regulations that affect Directorate programs. Collaborate with directorate managers to coordinate work-related processes, directives, and mission goals.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
