About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization & Security, Joint Base Myer - Henderson Hall, Virginia. Fort Myer is a 15 minute commute to/from the Arlington National Cemetery Metro Station, a 10-15 minute commute to/from the Rosslyn, Virginia Metro Station, and is accessible by bus transportation. The installation is approximately 7 miles from Washington D.C. and a short distance from major roadways and express highways.

Duties

Serves as Emergency Actions Controller (EAC) all person integrity (TPI) secure facility in the United States Joint Base Myer - Henderson Hall, Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC). Implement actions in compliance with instructions contained in the HQDA, AMC, IMCOM HQ, JBMHH Emergency Action Procedures. Support a myriad of critical, time sensitive tasks and functions during peacetime and crisis operations. Receive, process, account for and route time sensitive messages and information. Monitor numerous automation, communication and notification systems and take appropriate actions as required. In addition to serving as an EAC, incumbent serves as Training Officer for personnel assigned and attached to the BDOC. Responsible for maintaining a sound training program IAW applicable regulations and directives and advising the BDOC Manager on all issues related to training.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Requires continued education and training as outlined in the IMCOM Emergency Actions Program, Commander's Critical Information Reporting instruction and staff actions to maintain proficiency and knowledge of applicable regulations/directives by CDR.
  • Work is shift in nature and requires weekend, holiday, and night duty.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Monitoring numerous automation, communication and notification systems to receive and respond to time sensitive emergency action messages; 2.) ensuring security management of restricted/prohibited controlled area, proper handling of material and communication devices; and 3.) analyzing, evaluating, and recommending emergency planning and training requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Emergency Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
