About the Position: This position is with the Office of G1 at the National Training Center (NTC) in Fort Irwin, CA. Incumbent will serve as the Chief of the Personnel Actions Branch for the NTC and coordinates the operation of the two sections comprising the branch (Awards and Soldier Actions).

Duties

Utilize the military decision-making process to assist the G1 Senior Leaders to advise commanders across the installation. Conduct assignments, studies and projects of sensitive and confidential military personnel matters. Provide division level analyses of installation requirements. Manage rosters to determine needs by grade, Specialty Skill Qualification Identifier (SQSI), and educational prerequisites within the limits of financial authorizations and the Officer Distribution Plan, and/or the Enlisted Distribution Plan. Prepare status reports, strength analyses and strength posture reports on a daily, weekly or upon request for battalion, brigade or headquarters elements. Use military personnel applications such as AIM2, iPERMS, ACT, ADPASS, APACS, IPPS-A or other Human Resource database systems to conduct routine military human resource tasks.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources, Personnel Management, or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer LiteracyDecision SupportTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
