The Division of Intramural Research Program (DIR) at the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) conducts basic, clinical, and translational research focusing on the role of the brain in perceiving, modifying, and managing pain. Research projects include investigating the role of the brain in pain processing and control, and how factors such as emotion, attention, environment, and genetics affect pain perception.

Duties

Key advisor on sensitive, high priority issues and projects requiring institute-wide and interdepartmental coordination. Manage staff actions, determine status, prioritize events, and provide comprehensive status briefs to the Scientific Director and Lab Chiefs. Prepare staff documents to support a variety of taskings for the Scientific Director received from senior officials within and outside of NIH. Ensure that programs, projects and policies get completed in a timely manner that is consistent with strategic plans, goals, and objectives. Assist in the coordination, integration, and articulation of long-range scientific goals and strategies for the program. Coordinate and present researched alternatives to the Scientific Director.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet both of the following qualification requirements: Minimum Education: In order to qualify for a Supervisory Scientific Program Analyst, GS-0601, position you must possess a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition, in order to qualify for the Supervisory Scientific Program Analyst at the GS-14 level, you must: Demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal Government, performing the following types of tasks: applying analytical methods to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of scientific and administrative programs; evaluating the impact of administrative laws, policies, regulations and precedents on scientific programs; assist in the administrative review process for developing and disseminating scientific and administrative policy and procedures.
