About the Position: As Inspector General is located at Headquarters, U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort Liberty, NC. Fort Liberty is a culturally diverse area with rural and city populations, co-located at Fayetteville, NC centrally located in the beautiful state of North Carolina, which enjoys a temperate year-round climate and world-renowned colleges and universities. Fayetteville is centrally located between the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.

Duties

Advises team chief as to law, rules and regulations to protect legal rights of witnesses, and procedural matters that will assure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations and validity of the IG process. Prepares case summaries as required and briefs appropriate personnel/directorates/offices. Prepares final reports of investigations/inquiries. Prepares implementing actions predicated upon the facts, conclusions and approved recommendations. Makes recommendations regarding the completeness and validity of reports.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a pre-employment drug test and random drug tests thereafter.
  • TDY may be required up to 30% of the time (CONUS and OCONUS)
  • This position requires successful graduation from the Inspector General School and maintain certification in accordance with regulation.
  • This position requires database check against the Army Inspector General Action Request (IGARS) database to screen for substantiated and ongoing IG investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
