About the Position: This position is located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. A Master's Degree is preferred by management, but not required.

Duties

Develop a detailed project management plan with definitive milestones and projected resource requirements. Identify training resource requirements which require funding and submit recommendations to Resource Management for eventual inclusion long range planning and funding documents. Conduct task analysis and/or oversees an analysis task force to incorporate tri-service tasks into the MEDICAL E and T CAMPUS (METC) Curriculum Plan. Participate in the process of identifying and developing Subject Matter Expert (SME) assets and coordinating SME involvement in the training development process. Apply and consider external certification and accreditation requirements and comparable training program in the civilian sector and in other uniformed services. Serve as senior technical authority in the Radiography Program integrating training development products and support of concepts, requirement documents, studies, mission area development plans, independent evaluation plans. Provide direction and quality control by providing guidance to the Dean, Department Chair, academic review, directing changes and serving as approval official for all graduating students applying for National Certification in Radiography. Supervise and direct professional, technical and administrative personnel engaged in training and training development functions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • Incumbent will maintain current licensing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Instructional Systems Specialist GS-1750-13: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas: (1) Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. (2) Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. (3) Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. (4) Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. OR (5) Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: assisting in the development of Radiography training programs, assessing training support products and materials; and recommending training strategies.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingInstructional Materials & Curriculum DevelopmentTeaching Others Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
