Duties

As a Policy Advisor, you will: - Conduct significant research and analysis in order to provide expert recommendations to the Director in furthering the management and administration of public policy goals. - Undertake, in his/her capacity as a close personal and confidential aide to the Director, a wide variety of special assignments. - Review, analyze and make recommendations on legislative proposals from Congress, other HUD offices, and Federal agencies and organizations, and provide liaison and coordination to the Office of General Counsel on legislative matters. - Serve as a subject matter expert on the public housing and voucher programs, offering detailed knowledge of the intricacies of the program to the Director, Division Directors and staff to support program efforts and issues.

Requirements

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience: - Conducting studies to resolve affordable housing program problems; AND - Providing recommendations to affordable housing program goals; AND - Developing affordable housing program policy. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
