Duties

You will serve as the Arms Ammunition and Explosive advisor to the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) and Field Operations Support Officer (FOSO) on all matters concerning weapons, ammunition, and related law enforcement equipment You will recommend updates to and implements policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting weapons and ammunition in compliance with all DON regulations. You will enforce policy, guidance, and direction in the implementation of the agency’s AA and E program. You will ensure subordinate units are adhering to regulatory guidance, inventory management, and reporting requirements. You will evaluate existing controls, make recommendations, and manage the Explosive Safety Program for area of responsibility (AOR). You will serve as the Vehicle Coordinator for the Field Office and subcomponent offices. You will manage a fleet of law enforcement (LE) non-tactical vehicles (NTVs) to include Navy-owned, Commercially Leased, General Services Administration (GSA), and/or leased undercover cars, vans, motorcycles, boats, and boat trailers. You will review invoices and reports generated by GSA, NAVFAC, and other authoritative data systems ensuring source data is properly transferred and recorded in the FMIS. You will regularly visit and inspects NCIS subordinate offices to ensure vehicle maintenance and safety requirements are in compliance with established laws and policies.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of armory operations, weapons systems, and weapon accessories, to include handguns, assault rifles, and crew served weapons. The knowledge will encompass small arms operation, maintenance, and ammunition specifications.
