This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system. Positions in the Cyber Excepted Service are positions necessary to carry out and support the mission of the United States Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure located in the JFHQ DSRI DIRECTORATE.

Duties

Develops policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility, and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs. Conducts cyber security operations evaluations, audits, reviews and assesses systems security contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures. Implements, maintains, and conducts on-site and remote/virtual analyses of information system (IS) standard security products and associated systems. Provides technical reports to management that depict the status of the security products and the holistic security posture of the applicable (e.g., CCRI, PKI, ICS/OT, Cloud, PIT, CDS) operations at the site, or areas under evaluation. Prepares and presents formal and informal briefings to chain-of-command management on assigned projects, and to other organizations as part of the review process.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret/ SCI security clearance.
  • This is a drug testing position.
  • This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 which will be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the Manual.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate on their resume that they have IT related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies. -Attention to Detail -Customer Service -Oral Communication -Problem Solving Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Knowledge of cyber defense, vulnerability assessments techniques/tools and cyber audit techniques/tools, information technology (IT) security principles (e.g., Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability), network security architecture concepts (e.g., firewalls, demilitarized zones, encryption), and cybersecurity principles used to manage risks related to the use, processing, storage, and transmission of information or data. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
