DCSA's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is seeking a Hotline Investigator. In this role you will report to, and assist, the Deputy Inspector General with tracking receipt, closure, and disposition of case files assigned by the DoD IG Hotline and DCSA IG Hotline submissions. You will also conduct interviews of witnesses, SMEs, and the subjects of the alleged misconduct.

Duties

As an OIG HOTLINE INVESTIGATOR you will be responsible for the following duties: - Conducting appropriate research and inquiry ensuring that the rights of the individual(s) and the best interests of the agency are protected. - Participating in analysis of complaints and investigative results to determine systemic problems and root causes of issues and problems. - Recognizing, exploring, and exploiting leads; detecting discrepancies in information; and distinguishing between relevant and irrelevant information. - Creating professionally competent written reports of inquiry/investigation that accurately report the facts in a concise, logical, and objective manner.

  • Must have successfully completed, or successfully complete following selection, the DoD Joint IG training.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG-11 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Highly skilled in performing a variety of Inspectors General functions, tracking progress, closure and disposition of case files, proficient planning, providing support or conducting complex inquiries, to include: expert experience with receiving and triaging complaints from internal and external sources, referrals (to include DoD Hotline cases), and requests for assistance; gathering and analyzing relevant evidence, and evaluating inquiries tasked to other components or echelons; conducting research and drafting written reports that contain thorough analyses and adhere to the Quality Standards for Investigations as established by the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE); supporting, conducting, or performing oversight of inquiries into allegations of misconduct or improprieties affecting organizational programs and operations; experience ensuing all hotline complaints are addressed in a timely manner; and prioritizing workloads. Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: 1. Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences. 5. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. 6. Technology Application: Uses machines, tools, or equipment effectively; uses computers and computer applications to analyze and communicate information in the appropriate format. 7. Oral and Written Communication: Demonstrates the ability to clearly and effectively articulate and present facts, ideas, issues and analyses to a wide range of audiences; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; prepares succinct and well-organized papers, briefings and documentation to promote decisions.
