Duties

Select, apply, and interpret electronic principles and practices as related to the specialty area as required to collecting, reducing, displaying, and analyzing data. Prepares test and certification reports for customer use, providing specific information to determine corrections and uncertainties for instruments being calibrated. Interface with user and manufacturer of test equipment to clarify questionable areas concerning the use and accuracy of instruments or nonstandard test, measurement and diagnostic equipment. Implement, adapt, modify and periodically develop technical procedures required by the changing user or equipment requirements. Prepare reports to correct errors in existing procedures and provide technical information used in the decision-making process for the development of documents used for test, measurement and diagnostic equipment certification.

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of 10% or more may be required.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator, WG-3378-11 without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties of repairing test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), interpreting schematics, and applying electronic theories in collecting measurement data. I can assist in the use of instrument application and calibration requirements for equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
