Duties

Responsible for ensuring that model parameters are optimally set to minimize forecast error. Develop collaborative forecasts with the customer for those items that may or may not have demonstrated demand patterns, and for those that support the application of statistical models of prediction. Develops and enriches the demand plan by combining the elements of statistical forecasts, collaborative demand plans, and intelligence provided. Attend the Demand Collaboration, Demand Consensus, and the Demand/Supply Alignment meetings and are responsible for the development, execution, and resulting documentation of the action plans affiliated with the Demand Planning process. Perform research to help benchmark commercial best practices and evaluate the market information and assess its relevance and merit on the influence to the Demand Plan. Use forecast accuracy assessments to focus efforts on critical and low performing forecasts.

Qualifications

To qualify for an Inventory Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: - Analyze and adjust historical demand data used for statistical forecasting to offset events that are not expected or are expected to reoccur. - Adjust forecasting algorithms using model parameters to interact and impact on the forecast, both short and long term. - Develop collaborative forecasts for those items that may or may not have demonstrated demand patterns, and for those that support the application of statistical models of prediction. - Create a demand plan analysis for moderate to highly complex items. - Compare demand plan requirements to constraints, for shortfall identification and risk assessments Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
