You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Nuclear Resources Management Department of the Nuclear Reactors Supply Chain Management Directorate (NRSCMD) of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.

Duties

You will be responsible for performing all responsibilities related to security for Naval Nuclear Reactor Supply Chain Management Directorate You will develop processes to improve security and maintain a high level of personnel security awareness You will conduct inspections and surveys of department procedures for handling of classified data and video conferencing You will create and maintain new Internal Operating Procedures (IOPs) and instructions as needed to satisfy policy and operational requirements You will perform administration inspections and physical security surveys You will investigate and analyze any unusual security problems, questions or conditions associated with the LENEL system. You will be responsible for the operation of the electronic entry control system, procedures and personal identification numbers, changing of the combination to the locks and entry to the secured area. You will coordinate certification and re-certification of facilities and systems, which have sensitivity designations You will provide security training and conducts individual security briefings and debriefings for new and existing employees.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-09 position: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Security Specialist experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: 1) Managing and implementing security methodology and techniques used for the protection of sensitive information to preclude damage, destruction, unauthorized access, manipulation or modification of automated systems. 2) Develops processes to improve security and maintain a high level of personnel security awareness. 3) Ensuring the physical security of secure areas by operating electronic entry control systems, changing lock combinations, and monitoring control logs for visitors, customer services and authorized entrances by personnel to controlled areas. 4) Maintaining and creating internal procedures, operating instructions, and policies that identify and improve physical and information security measures. 5) Analyzing problems to make timely/effective recommendations based on potential implications of findings or conclusions. To qualify for the GS-07 position: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Security Specialist experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
