This position will serve as the Special Assistant to the SES/SES-equivalent Deputy Chief Research and Development Officer (CRADO) of Enterprise Protections, Regulatory Outreach and Systems (EPROS) in the Office of Research and Development (ORD), of the VA Central Office in Washington, D.C.
This vacancy may be filled in Washington, DC or a VA location to be determined.
Duties
The Special Assistant to Deputy CRADO-EPROS works closely with the Deputy CRADO-EPROS in the implementation of long- and short-range plans, goals, and objectives of the EPROS unit. The position must have the administrative experience and system knowledge to be able to guide and facilitate ORD programs/projects, address integration with ORD Research programs and field research offices and the impacts to Human Resources (HR), Business Processes, Finance, and Knowledge Management. The position is expected to demonstrate leadership, initiative, and resourcefulness in execution of their assigned tasks. In addition to the authority given to the position to carry out routine activities, it is expected they will provide the Deputy CRADO-EPROS with complete information and comprehensive recommendations that will facilitate informed decisions.
Work Schedule: 40 hrs/week Monday- Friday; TOD based on organizational need

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/21/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS 14 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 13. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-14 Specialized Experience:
Do you possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience, which equips you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Management and Program Analyst, GS-14 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled? To be creditable, this specialized experience must have been equivalent to the GS-13 level in Federal service to qualify at the GS-14.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
1) Serves as an executive advisor providing consultative, administrative, and problem- solving expertise to department officials
2) Develops strategies and establishes departmental goals, timetables, and procedures for expediting initiatives, programs, and projects
3) Leads efforts to enhance efficiency and improve the customer experience of partners and stakeholders
4) Performs audits and inspections related to developing and monitoring programs, plans, policies, and/or analyzing quality initiatives
5) Provides consultation on specific program improvement and organizational development projects such as realignment of organizational processes and reinforcing new practices across a department
Note: Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held on your resume. You must provide work experience information such as hours per week, salary, and starting/ending dates of employment (month and year format) to establish you have one (1) full year of Specialized Experience at or comparable to the required grade level.
