Duties

As a Public Health Advisor (Quarantine Program) you will: Serve as a recognized authority for and represent the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine (DGMQ) programs and activities at ports of entry and transit in the servicing jurisdiction. Provide guidance, and direction to port partners in DGMQ programs, quarantine principles, bioterrorism preparedness, and other public health activities related to control and prevention of communicable diseases. Provide advice and assistance to community partners in the development and implementation of public health programs and activities and integrate public health activities at ports with those in communities to develop more effective communicable disease control and prevention programs Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work, when necessary.

Requirements Continued: This position requires unrestricted access to secure areas at U.S. ports. Must obtain and maintain an official U.S. passport. Must possess and maintain a valid State government-issued driver's license. Subject to shift operations, to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Subject to temporary duty assignment at any location in the United States and its territories or possessions, in foreign countries, or at sea. Subject to permanent reassignment to another CDC Quarantine Station as the needs of the service warrant. Must undergo baseline and periodic health screening procedures such as respiratory fit testing and PPD tests for tuberculosis exposure. Required to be current on immunizations as per ACIP guidelines All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: Providing guidance and direction to port partners in quarantine principles, bioterrorism preparedness, and other public health activities related to control and prevention of communicable diseases. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
