This vacancy is for a MANAGEMENT ANALYST position in the Travel Management & Policy Branch, located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other MANAGEMENT ANALYST, 0343-9/11/12, FPL GS-12, positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Duties

Provides guidance on travel policy and procedures, international travel processing, uses laptop computer and management software to produce reports on the status of travel activities. Monitors, summarizes, and disseminates information about government issued accounts and travel (both Domestic and International). Provides technical assistance to management in the Travel Management Policy Branch and meets with sponsoring divisions or offices to discuss program needs. Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal Service. Experience for this position includes performing a variety of routine accounting assignments, to include, interpreting and applying accounting standards, laws, policies, and procedures; examining accounting documents for proper classification and authorization and performing reconciliations; assisting with monitoring corrective action plans associated with audit findings and internal controls; independently performing and resolving a variety of accounting issues/errors. OR 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree? Specialized Experience: For the GS-11, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal Service. Experience for this position includes performing a variety of routine accounting assignments, to include, interpreting and applying accounting standards, laws, policies, and procedures; examining accounting documents for proper classification and authorization and performing reconciliations; Independently performing and resolving a variety of accounting issues/errors. ability to analyze travel related data and make recommendations to management. knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and policies related to travel-related operations area in order to analyze their impact on programs. OR 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal Service. Experience for this position includes: performing a variety of routine accounting assignments, to include, interpreting and applying accounting standards, laws, policies, and procedures; examining accounting documents for proper classification and authorization and performing reconciliations; developing and providing training; assisting with monitoring corrective action plans associated with audit findings and internal controls; Independently performing and resolving a variety of accounting issues/errors; knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and policies related to program/operations area in order to analyze their impact on programs; experience in the application of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness or the improvement of complex management processes and data science functions. Education: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
