About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the executive administrative assistant for the Headquarters, The Army University. This position may be filled at the GS-6, GS-7, or GS-8 grade level as determined by management and in accordance with any applicable regulatory guidance. Individuals placed at a grade lower than the full performance level (GS-8) may be noncompetitively promoted upon completion of all experience and Time-in-Grade requirements.

Duties

The duties of the developmental grade level positions are identical to those of the full performance level, however, they are performed with more specific guidance and under more-than-normal supervision. This list is not all-inclusive: Establish priorities, schedules/reschedules as necessary, or declines appointments or invitations to meetings/functions or arranges for substitution of an alternate representative. Schedule briefings and make appointments for the command; coordinating meeting dates, times, locations, and notifies attendees. Manage, screen, and route all incoming visitors and calls which may require command and executive staff attention. Handle requests for information independently as necessary. Inform/Update command group of commitments decisions to be made, or actions to be taken. Read, screen, and route all incoming official mail. Review all correspondence prepared for the command’s review/approval/signature. Compose correspondence using general guidance, brief notes, dictations, or verbal instructions from the command group. Establish and maintain electronic and paper files for all actions, acting as custodian of classified documents for the command group. Attend meetings as required. Assist with coordinating social obligations such as luncheons, dinners, and receptions to include preparation of guest lists, seating arrangements, etc. Prepare travel requests and vouchers for the executive staff to include travel arrangements and accommodations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret security clearance.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) for business for up to 5% of the time.
  • This position requires the services of a qualified typist.

To qualify at the GS-7 grade level: Specialized experience: Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) performing a variety of clerical and administrative work for an office; 2) using various office automation applications, 3) proofreading and editing correspondence and technical documents; and 4) interacting with senior level officials. To qualify at the GS-8 grade level: Specialized experience: Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) performing a variety of clerical and administrative work for an office; 2) interacting with senior level officials; 3) using various office automation applications; 4) proofreading and editing correspondence and technical documents; 5) coordinating meetings and various actions; and 6) handling requests for information/assistance independently.
