This position is located within a National Interagency Support Cache (NISC). The position is responsible for assisting in the planning, managing, directing, coordinating administration, operation, utilization, maintenance, inspection and inventory control of the fleet and equipment program for the NISC. Duties

Provides advice to managers and supervisors on procedures and policies related to fleet management. Completes analysis such as utilization of fleet and equipment, and analysis on problems with equipment and recommends solutions. Monitors vehicle accidents and repairs to motor vehicles and preparing appropriate reports. Ensures equipment and associated administrative documents are prepared for sale. Provides guidance on paperwork requirements, accident reporting, and procedures and policies related to routine operations. Provides technical guidance on transportation services, equipment operations, maintenance, and repairs. Gathers data to track a fleet and equipment management program. Performs supervisory duties 20% or less of the time. Plans the work to be accomplished by the unit, assigns work to employees, and establishes production or quality standards for the unit’s work Establishes and communicates guidelines and performance requirements to employees; conducts formal performance reviews; and identifies and provides for the developmental and training needs of employees.

OR Experience: Experience in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal. This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-09: Applicants must have one (1) year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Assisting in coordinating, planning, and evaluating a vehicle fleet and equipment management program; and/or Monitoring vehicle accidents and repairs to motor vehicles and preparing appropriate reports; and/or Gathering data to track a fleet and equipment management program; and/or Analyzing utilization of fleet equipment, and creating reports of studies; and/or Providing technical guidance on transportation services, equipment operations, maintenance, and repairs. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position. OR An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level).
