The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principle executive assistant, performing various administrative and clerical duties in support of the Wing Commander and command staff such as plans and coordinates all internal procedures, administrative controls for internal and external units, and provides guidance and advice of formal reporting requirements.

Duties

Serves as Primary Administrative Support Specialist for the Wing Commander. Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring personal and executive correspondence, reports, and other documents from information obtained from the staff, files, and other resources. Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence, reports, and other materials submitted for the Commander's signature. Maintains calendars for Command Staff, coordinates meeting arrangements, and schedules meetings and/or conferences. Performs other clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization. Prepares time and attendance records.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of policies, procedures, methods, and regulations of protocol and interpersonal relations practice; detailed knowledge of administration procedures and the ability to interpret and apply moderately complex directives and instructions; knowledge of multi-service, higher headquarters, and commend-level military and civilian personnel policies and procedures; knowledge of standard office administrative procedures and practices required to ensure planning, organizing, and coordinating workload and to meet suspense deadlines; working knowledge of security, travel, budget, and supply regulations, procedures, and ability to apply to requirements of the office; and knowledge of standard office automation applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) to prepare recurring reports and locate, analyze, correlate, assemble and compose routine and non-routine reports and correspondence. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-08 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to identify and resolve procedural issues and problems related to program area of responsibility. 2. Knowledge of protocol regulations procedures and instructions that apply to military and civilian leaders. 3. Knowledge of management principals, and techniques of analysis and evaluation, analyzes and recommends solutions to problems in staffing and administrative procedures. 4. Knowledge of computer systems such as UTAPS, ATAAPs, ARROWS-R and DTS. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and effectively plan, organize, and coordinate office administration workloads and to meet suspense deadlines. 6. Ability to apply security, travel, budget and supply regulations, procedures and practices to the requirements of the office. Ability to deal with very sensitive issues and handle them with discretion. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
