About the Position: Perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, arrest or apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the jurisdiction of the military installation.

Duties

Responsible for responses to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service. Exercise search and arrest authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, determines whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action. Collect and preserves evidence, conduct long and short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develop case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspect to trial. Appear in court to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings. Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. Operate motor vehicle which may involve high speed pursuit of suspects. Conduct investigative stops, questions, detains, and issues traffic citations as required. Set up road blocks, traffic-control points, and directs traffic Protect personnel, material, tactical military assets, and high value assets by executing daily RAM and supplemental anti-terrorism measures during increased force protection conditions. Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts Establish Incident Command at the onset of terrorist attack or other significant incident affecting public safety and the installation mission Participate in antiterrorism exercises to maintain proficiency in response to installation natural or terrorist threats Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data. Provide response to interpreted messages, (e.g., broadcasts Attempt to Locate/Be on the lookout to patrols, types response to sending agency, briefs appropriate person as to content of message, etc.). Use word processing and web-based law enforcement computer programs to establish, update, query or print detailed reports, forms, and citations concerning all incidents and action taken Please limit your resume to 5 pages. Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must graduate from United States Army Civilian Police Academy or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
  • Incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring physical examinations as required by the Army Regulation 190-56.
  • Incumbent must take and pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of the hiring date and annually thereafter.
  • Must pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to Law Enforcement work functions which includes, but not limited to, weapons qualifications, first aid CPR and National Incident Management System.
  • Subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date). Must sign a DA Form 5019 form.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position. Subject to removal if convicted.
  • As a Mission Essential position, in the event of severe weather conditions or emergency situation the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret Clearance.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is subject to required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
  • The Omnibus Federal Budget Bill for Fiscal Year 2001 (Public Law 106-554) requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies after the law takes effect.
  • Felony convictions that occurred before the new law takes effect are not included in this requirement; only new convictions will trigger the requirement. The law went into effect on January 20, 2001.
  • This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
