About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Jackson, SC. This is a Planned Management Action open to Current Civilian Employees of the Organization.

Duties

Serves as a first line supervisor and Motor Transport Coordinator for over thirty or more motor vehicle operators to include work leaders in the Transportation Division. Overall responsible for convoy operations, protocol commitments and any special one-time project involving mass transit or specialty vehicles. Plans and establishes overall leave schedules and approve and disapprove leave requests submitted by subordinate workers. Responsible for planning the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools to accomplish work operations in the branch. Provide technical guidance and advice and/or renders decisions on specific operations on a continuous basis through spot check; work in progress; and review of effectiveness of operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires incumbent to successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and annual physical thereafter.
  • Incumbent must successfully pass all drug tests.
  • This position is inclement weather essential.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a CDL operator license with a minimum of Class A and P endorsement. Incumbent must obtain and maintain N endorsements within 180 days of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Ability to lead or supervise. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: skill in workforce planning, training and employee development, administrative and employee management, and operation of motor vehicles. Prioritize workload based off future deadlines, identifying training needs, and operating the full range of bus or combination-type passenger transporter/tractor-trailer vehicles. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
