About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Military Analyst (Joint Concepts) for the US Army, Futures and Concepts Center, Directorate of Concepts, Fort Eustis, VA. Fort Eustis, VA is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Local transportation via the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus service to the surrounding area which includes Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.

Duties

Serves as a Military Analyst (Joint Concepts) performing as a subject matter expert (SME) in future Army concepts and operations with the Joint Force. Conducts primary and secondary research and analysis regarding National Defense Strategy, National Security Strategy, Army, Joint, and combined doctrine and operational concepts. Incorporates Army future force designs into joint, Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD), other Service, and multinational partner written concepts and war games.

Requirements

  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 30% of the time.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
