About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Environmental Health Technician with the 10th Air Base Wing, 10th Medical Group duty location will be at the United States Air Force Academy CO. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Plans and organizes the activities related to the execution of a variety of public health programs within the Force Health Management, Community Health and Medical Standards Elements such as: Tuberculosis Control and Prevention, Rabies Exposure Surveillance, Deployment Medicine, Deployment Health Surveillance, Illness and Injury, Investigation and Remediation Programs, Food Safety, and Facility Sanitation programs. Assignments involve various tasks applicable to the management, creation, implementation, and administration of detection and control programs for a variety of communicable disease and occupational health programs. The employee reviews and interprets program guidelines and develops local implementation plans; conducts patient interviews, as necessary. Conducts worksite visits; collects and analyzes data and prepares reports; evaluates compliance with appropriate policies/directives and recommends required corrective actions; and prepares and presents required training. Demonstrates high standards of professional conduct. Maintains absolute confidentiality of medical information.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes documented experience which demonstrates 1) applying concepts, principles, and practices relating Public Health program such as Disease Intervention, Communicable Diseases, Preventive Medicine Techniques, Food and Water Safety, and basic anatomy and physiology; 2) presenting educational and other training briefings; 3) medical record management utilizing basic computer hardware/software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05.
