About the Position: Serves as supervisor responsible for supervising workers in the calibration and repair of calibration standards; occasionally adapting procedures; participating in studies, making tests to determine limitations of test equipment; and functions designed to increase the accuracy and effectiveness calibration programs.

Duties

Plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools on a project-to-project, week-to-week, or month-to-month basis. Adhere to work priorities, project schedules, resources, and detailed work plans established by the supervisor. Establish deadlines and ensure adherence to schedules and priorities; interpret technical policy, procedures, and regulations; and provide advice and assistance as required to resolve management problems and maintain continuity of work. Advises customers relative to repair and calibration of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment. Recommend changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as necessary and make minor deviations in procedures or redirect resources under his or her control to overcome unforeseen problems. Set performance standards and makes formal appraisals of subordinate work performance. Advise and counsel workers on how to improve performance and explain new work techniques.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to a pre-employment physical examination.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40lbs is required.
  • This position may require the incumbent to travel up to 10% to perform duties/attend training.
  • Incumbent may be required to serve a one-year supervisory probationary period.
