About the Position: This position for U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM) is supporting the Pittsburgh, PA Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). The mission of USMEPCOM and the Pittsburgh MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.

Duties

Provides administrative support to the station’s Commander and staff. Receives all visitors and incoming command telephone calls. Acts as the primary civilian and military personnel systems administrator for employees of the MEPS. Serves as the Commander’s Point of Contact on civilian personnel matters, requirements and suspense. Serves as timekeeper for the Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS). Maintains Commander’s calendar and schedules headquarters’ leadership key appointments and meetings. Picks up and receives mail from the U.S. Post Office. Screens incoming mail IAW current security requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Must obtain and maintain a DD 285 Mail Handler's Card and pass background screening to qualify for and sustain system passwords and access automated data systems.
