You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the Propulsion Test Facility of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI in the Weapons Mechanical Systems Branch, Code 8524. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 through GS-12 and the NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 through GS-14.

Duties

You will serve as a Propulsion Test Facility (PTF) Lead Weapons and Shapes equipment specialist. You will be responsible for oversight of all technical operations involving planning, monitoring and execution of weapon systems and shapes tasking within the PTF. You will track and monitor planning of work, assign resources and evaluate execution of tasking within the teams work to execute assembly of test assets and shapes. You will be responsible for overall safety, environmental and compliance associated with task execution. You will be responsible for the monitoring of infrastructure and equipment usage, expirations and compliance with all regulations. You will interface with C8524 Branch Head, PTF Facility Manager and TPM’s as applicable to ensure tasking is being completed within customer timelines and requirements. You will be considered a subject matter expert in association to Torpedo and Shape hardware and equipment. This is a bargaining unit position.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 44 pounds in weight.
  • You must be willing and able to handle explosives.

Qualifications

NT-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing oversight of technical operations by planning, monitoring or execution of weapons systems utilizing extensive technical knowledge and experience of equipment for the support of torpedo systems. NT-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning, monitoring or execution of weapons systems utilizing technical experience of equipment for the support of torpedo systems. NT-04: In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

OR
