About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Charlottesville, VA. Serves as an intelligence analyst performing professional enginner/scientist duties to produce intelligence products and forecasts.

Duties

Perform professional engineer or scientific duties to analyze intelligence and produce finished scientific and technical intelligence products. Produce scientific and technical intelligence products, forecasts, and assessments regarding Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Defense systems or technology. Investigate critical intelligence issues applying knowledge of scientific, engineering, or technical principles. Adapt research techniques to expand analytical methodologies for difficult intelligence analysis problems. Develop projects to produce targeted intelligence products such as forecasts and capabilities assessments or major inputs to broad Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Defense systems or technology studies. Present formal and informal briefings on significant issues and represent the Center on Intelligence Community working groups and committees.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a single-scope background investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • TDY will be required (CONUS/OCONUS) less than 25% of the time.
  • All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
