This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility Lewis West located in Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington. This position may offer a $10,000 recruitment bonus (see Additional Information Section).

  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.

Qualifications

This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: maintaining and repairing aircraft pneudraulic systems to include changing hydraulic pumps, repairing and replacing valves and actuating cylinders, replacing gaskets, seals, pistons, and bearings. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical effort: Must be able to stand for long periods of time; or endure recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching. Must possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside shops, aircraft, or outside in varying weather conditions. Exposed to high frequency and high intensity noises. Dirt, dust, grease, and fumes are normally present. Danger of the possibility of cuts, burns, shocks, strains, falls, and eye or skin irritations is possible.
