This position is located in the Division of Resolutions and Receiverships, HQ or Dallas Regional Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of data science, data modeling and analytics work of the organization. Duties

-Identifies, gathers, and analyzes a range of financial information pertaining to FDIC-insured commercial banks and thrifts, asset resolution strategies, financial market benchmarks and industry trends.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Basic Requirements: 1. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. - OR - 2. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above, applicants may qualify at the CG-07 level by one of the following: Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 5-grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience preparing reports, design tables and charts of mathematical and data modeling theories in support of financial modeling needs. -or- Education: Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education, or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) with completion of a bachelor's degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. -or- Combinations of education and experience: A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above, applicants may qualify at the CG-09 level by one of the following: Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 7-grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience supporting financial modeling needs; identifying and evaluating data modeling theories and analytics; researching and collecting financial data; and utilizing computer programming skills such as Python, R, VBA and other statistical tools to manipulate various economic scenarios. -or- Education: Applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. -or- Combinations of education and experience: A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
