Duties

Collaborating with subject matter experts to write, review, condense, and edit all technical documents produced by Jacksonville Districts Planning and Policy Division for external distribution. Reviewing and editing all documents from technical team members and contributors for content, organization, accuracy, grammar, consistency, conciseness, literary quality, and format in accordance with Army regulations and professional standards. Ensuring that documents contain effective visual aids (photos, drawings, tables, etc.) to adequately illustrate key ideas and topics, or to emphasize critical points. Provide technical writing and editing assistance across Planning and Policy Division to improve overall quality and consistency of deliverable products. Exploring a broad range of resources including library research, interviews with subject-matter experts, and team meetings to obtain, analyze, and verify information, manages records, files, and Contracting Officer Representative files.

GS-9 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes editing scientific/technical articles or reports AND using software systems (such as Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat) to organize data and compile documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree that included a total of 15 semester hours in English Language Art (ELA) type classes, and at least one course above the introductory level in English Language Art (ELA) type classes. GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) writing and editing scientific/technical articles and reports; (2) using automated systems to create technical reports; AND (3) reviewing technical documents for such things as content, organization, accuracy, consistency, or literary quality. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-7 for GS-9; GS-9 for GS-11).
