About the Position: The Engineering Division is housed within the New England District (NAE) Headquarters in Concord, MA. The Engineering Division is responsible for production of technical products produced by the District. Projects developed by NAE's design staff are as diverse as our program and support USACE civil works, military works, and Hazardous, Toxic, and Radiological Waste (HTRW) projects.

Duties

Provide administrative support to all offices within the Engineering/Planning Division. Prepare correspondence in accordance with established standards. Compile information and generate reports using Microsoft Office. Perform a variety of clerical and administrative support work for time, attendance, and labor reports. Enter information into automated information systems for supervisor approval. Provide timely and accurate customer service. Provide direct assistance to Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs of Engineering and Planning Divisions. Purchase office supplies and maintain inventory.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience is defined as meeting 4 out of 6 of the following: 1) Perform office administrative tasks in accordance with office policy; 2) generate recurring reports; 3) prepare correspondence in Microsoft Word in accordance with established standards; 4) enter time and attendance data; 5) maintain training and other personnel records; and 6) coordinate the proper management of technical records per office policy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
