You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Security Department, Operations Division of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV POINT MUGU.

Duties

You will support the COMSEC Manager in all aspects of COMSEC account day-to-day operations and administration of the NAWCWD COMSEC account. You will provide physical security of over 2000 line items of U.S. and Allied classified communications material and equipment for NAWCWD Point Mugu, CA and tenant commands. You will provide administrative support in the development, formulation, implementation, and management of policy in all matters (technical and administrative) regarding COMSEC and its support of Local Element (LE) and visiting units. You will perform spot checks and training assist visits on LE commands to ensure proper handling and safeguarding procedures of COMSEC material are being observed. You will provide administrative support to develop and implement the command's written COMSEC policy and procedures with particular emphasis on material accountability, two-person integrity, security, and identification of improper practices.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate: At the DA-04 Level: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09/10) or pay band (DA-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Security Specialist. Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: (1) Working as an Alternate Manager for Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) Account, having completed the KMI Course of Instruction; (2) Leading security teams through complex multi-discipline security scenarios, mentoring and developing team members into proficient security specialists; (3) Independently Interpreting and applying security concepts, principles and practices to review, analyze and resolve difficult and complex security problems; (4) Coordinating and administering sensitive projects and security operations within prescribed objectives and timelines; and (5) Managing and operating Automated Information Systems (AIS) security equipment, programs, alarm systems, entry control systems and intrusion detection systems. At the DA-03 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05/08) or pay band (DA-02) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Security Specialist. Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: (1) Working in security teams during complex multi-discipline security scenarios; (2) Interpreting and applying security concepts, principles and practices to review, analyze and resolve difficult and complex security problems; (3) Working on sensitive projects and security operations within prescribed objectives and timelines; and (4) Operating Automated Information Systems (AIS) security equipment, programs, alarm systems, entry control systems and intrusion detection systems; (5) Utilizing with Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access Database programs), and Adobe Acrobat. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

At the DA-04 Level:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of an LL.M., if related

At the DA-03 Level:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D., if related
